Paulo B. Caram’s work lies at the intersection of psychoanalysis, literature, education, and institutional leadership. An author of several published works, he has developed a body of writing devoted to psychoanalysis, emotional suffering, human development, and the complexities of subjective experience. As founder and president of ABRAPLP and director of psychoanalytic training programs in English and Portuguese, he has dedicated his clinical and intellectual trajectory to the transmission of psychoanalysis, the formation of psychoanalysts, and the investigation of emotional suffering. His interdisciplinary education has contributed to a broad understanding of the human subject and its social, ethical, and cultural dimensions. He holds a law degree from UNIMEP and has practiced law in Brazil for more than four decades (OAB 63.930). In the United States, he earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and qualified as a Christian Counselor. He also studied Civil Engineering at PUC-Campinas and attended Philosophy courses as a special student at UNICAMP. A United States citizen, Paulo has lived in Orlando, Florida, since 1998. Alongside his psychoanalytic, educational, and literary activities, he has worked in the structuring of financial enterprises and developed expertise in software-based operating systems, a field in which he remains actively engaged. His work is guided by the understanding that psychoanalysis is not merely a body of theoretical knowledge, but a particular form of listening—one capable of recognizing the unconscious meanings expressed through symptoms, conflicts, repetitions, and human relationships. Through clinical practice, teaching, writing, and institutional development, he seeks to preserve the rigor of the psychoanalytic tradition while making its concepts accessible to contemporary audiences.
